'Tracing some places'
This book is published for MILL6 Inaugural Exhibition: Leung Chi Wo Solo Exhibition – ‘Tracing some places’ ran from 5 December 2015 – 9 January 2016. The exhibition and the book both feature 14 works including two new commissions, as well as earlier prints, photographs, videos and multi-media sculptures dating back to 1996. In his new work, Leung draws inspiration from individual memories and his family history, rooted in the local textiles industry.
Apart from the plates, the book also includes English and Chinese bilingual essays from three internationally and locally renowned contributors, Chang Tsong-Zung, Inti Guerrero and Leung Po Shan Anthony. Written by Angelika Li, Director of MILL6, the preface spins a yarn about the founding of the cultural institution centered on textile arts in Hong Kong. It also brings out the institution’s commitment to preserving the essence of local culture and heritage, and driving a continuous dialogue between Hong Kong and international communities.
